The film appeared just weeks before President Bill Clinton's sex scandal with Monica Lewinsky, and people who saw the film must have wondered if Clinton was inspired by it, especially since he ordered three military operations during the scandal. The film makes tiny Albania the evil enemy of America and shows not only how easily Hollywood movie magic can deceive the public but also how much influence government exercises over journalists.
