CHAPTER9-2 翻訳お願いします。 Ever since Pixar unveiled Toy Story in 1995 it has been on an unstoppable creative hot streak, churning out dependable family films loaded with memorable characters. Disney has desperately tried to play catch-up, most noticeably with Chicken Little, but Disney is unable to grasp Pixar's simple philosophy, which is to hold the story in the highest regard and let the animation flow from there. It's unlucky the company will ever top 2004's The Incredibles, but director John Lasseter's Cars is a very worthy addition to the brand. Cars is a consistently enetrtaining comedy that mixes humor animed at kids and parents with a relentless energy and a regretful look at the evolution of the modern American lifestyle. The film opens with a race car called Lightning McQueen about to win the popular Piston Cup. It's clear from the start of the movie that Pixar has once again taken another leap forward with their stunning animated images. Monsters.Inc.captured the millions of tiny hairs on Sulley's body, Finding Nemo offered a beautifully fuzzy portrait of undersea life, and The Incredibles brought new depth and texture to land and water. But Cars joyfully plays with light and color━from the sun on the windshield to the glistening chrome and paint. There's also an energy in the way these machines move around that makes their personalities immediate and distinct. The plot of Cars is irrelevant, or is ertainly interchangeable with any of a dozen similar story lines. The heart of the story is the movie's open celebration of the way things used to be━those long-gone days when people drove "not to make great time, but to have a great time ." In Cars, Lasseter uses the town of Radiator Springs as a symbol for everything that once was good but now is lost. The town is the hub of the story and is perhaps the most important character in the film.(続きを読む)
