ホメロスのイーリアスでヘレネーは戦争の原因以外でどのような役割を担っていたのでしょうか？それと彼女は一体どんな人物だったのでしょうか？ 因にわたしが読んだのは英語版で訳者はRichmond Lattimoreという方です 戦争の原因という割には彼女のキャラはあまり際立っていない様な気がしたんです。 作者になにか意図があったのでしょうか？ わたしなりに考えた答えは・・・ 1. 彼女は世界一の美女だけれど中身が無く、その状態を作者はこの無意味な戦争と照らし合わせている。 2. 物語の中で、人々はhonorである事をとても重要と考えている。彼女の台詞の中でいくつかそれに重点をおいたものがいくつかあった。(例えばパリスがメネラーオスとの一騎打ちから逃れて来たときなど) そのため作者は彼女を通してhonorの重要さを強調したかった。 3. 単純に、自分が原因で戦争が起きたにも関わらず、気持ちがパリスからメネラーオスに揺らいだりとふらふらしている様とアキレスやヘクトールの様に必死で戦う様を対比させるため。 それと他にわからなかったのは、3巻でヘレネーがプリアモスにアカイア軍の戦士の説明をしている意味(聞かれたから答えただけとは思えないんです)とその時の彼女の心情、それとアプロディーテがヘレネーをパリスの元へ連れて行こうとした時になぜあんな事(Strange divinity! ... confused with sorrows. 110ページの399から412まで)を言ったのか。 日本語版もちらっと見てみたのですが、やはり訳の仕方が違い、解釈の仕方は多少かわるかもしれないのですが、みなさんの意見を伺いたいです。よろしくお願いします。(続きを読む)
